A quick workflow

  1. Name a study and pick what it starts as - a blank one, a survey, a prototype test, a 5-second test, or a preset your team saved.
  2. Build the sequence: add, reorder and write the blocks a participant will walk, watching the live preview as you go.
  3. At the first block that needs a prototype, import it from Figma - screens, imagery, fonts and links come across, and every other block in the study shares it.
  4. Set where the task starts and what counts as done, fix any navigation with Paths, and add Variables over elements testers should type into, switch, or be gated by.
  5. Share the link, collect sessions, and read the heatmaps, the routes people actually took, and their answers.

Building in Figma first still helps - real frames, clear names, wired navigation - but it is no longer where you have to start. See Prepare your Figma file for what imports cleanly.

A continuously developing service

urTRACE is a continuously developing service - imports, Variables and Paths in particular are actively being refined, so expect features here to keep evolving and improving over time. If you notice something off, or run into a bug, we'd genuinely like to hear about it: email us at [email protected] or use the contact form. Every report helps us improve the service.
